1. The Barcelona Taxi Rate Explained Simply

The Barcelona taxi rate was officially set on 1 janvier 2025. Taxi tariffs in Spain are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Barcelona was last set in janvier 2025 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Barcelona taxi rate:

The Barcelona taxi tariff sets out how taxi fares are calculated in the city. When you take a taxi, the fare is based on a combination of a base fare, a price per kilometer, and possible additional charges. The rates are different depending on the day and time.

From Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, the base fare is €2.75. After you start your trip, you are charged €1.32 for every kilometer traveled. If the taxi needs to wait for any reason, there is a waiting time charge of €29.95 per hour.

At night, which means from Monday to Friday between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am as well as all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays, the base fare remains €2.75. However, the price per kilometer increases to €1.62. The waiting time charge stays the same at €29.95 per hour.

There are some additional charges under the Barcelona taxi tariff. If your trip starts from or goes to the airport, there is an extra charge of €4.50. If you book a taxi by phone, there is a charge of €7.00. The minimum fare for taxi rides starting from the airport, including all charges, is €21.00.
