The Dublin taxi rate was officially set on 1 décembre 2024. Taxi tariffs in Ireland are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Dublin was last set in décembre 2024 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Dublin taxi rate:

The Dublin taxi tariff sets clear rules for how fares are calculated. Every journey starts with a base fare of €5.40, regardless of distance or the time of day. The price charged per kilometer depends on the time and distance travelled. During the day, from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, the tariff applies at a rate of €1.32 per kilometer for the first 15 kilometers. For any distance longer than 15 kilometers, the rate increases to €1.72 per kilometer.

At night, the tariff applies from Monday to Friday between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays. The night rate also starts with a base fare of €5.40. For the first 15 kilometers, the fare is €1.81 per kilometer. For trips that go beyond 15 kilometers, the rate is €2.20 per kilometer for the additional distance.

Waiting time is also included in the fare. If the taxi is required to wait, the charge is €23.60 per hour during daytime hours, and €31.80 per hour during night hours, weekends, and bank holidays.

Passengers can expect their final fare to be calculated by adding together the base fare, the cost per kilometer for the appropriate time and distance, and any charges for waiting time.
