The Vienna taxi rate was officially set on 1 juin 2023. Taxi tariffs in Austria are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Vienna was last set in juin 2023 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Vienna taxi rate:

The Wien taxi tariff explains how fares for taxi rides within Vienna are calculated. The fare consists of a base fare, a charge for each kilometre travelled, and a fee for waiting time. These components are different during the day and at night.

For rides from Monday to Saturday between 6:00 and 23:00, the base fare is €3.80. For the first 5 kilometres, each kilometre costs €0.95. After 5 kilometres, each additional kilometre costs €0.58. If the taxi waits for you, there is a waiting time charge of €34.80 per hour.

At night, from Monday to Saturday between 23:00 and 6:00, and all day on Sundays, the tariff changes. The base fare is €4.30. For the first 5 kilometres, each kilometre costs €1.09. After 5 kilometres, each additional kilometre costs €0.67. The waiting time charge during these hours is €40.20 per hour.

When booking a taxi in advance by phone or app within Vienna, it is possible to agree on a fixed price for the journey before it begins. In this case, the taximeter is not used when the ride starts. Passengers can use this option to know the total price in advance, based on mutual agreement with the taxi service.
