1. The Warsaw Taxi Rate Explained Simply

Officially Set

The Warsaw taxi rate was officially set on 1 janvier 2024. In Poland, cab fares are set by the local authorities of the respective cities and municipalities. Prices can therefore vary depending on the region. The fares are usually made up of a basic fee and a price per kilometer. Official cabs are obliged to display their current fares on the rear side window on the passenger side, visible from the outside. They must also be equipped with functioning taximeters that are switched on during the journey.

How the fare is made up under the Warsaw taxi rate:

The taxi tariff in Warschau is based on clear and straightforward rules. When you start a taxi ride, there is an initial base fare. During both day and night times, the base fare is 8.00 zł. This amount is charged at the beginning of every ride.

From Monday to Saturday, between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm, the daytime tariff applies. After the base fare, each kilometer you travel costs 3.00 zł. If the taxi is stopped or waiting, for example in traffic or at your request, there is a waiting time charge of 40.00 zł per hour.

The night tariff applies from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am, as well as all day on Sundays. During this tariff period, each kilometer after the base fare costs 4.50 zł. The waiting time fee remains the same at 40.00 zł per hour.

Passengers in Warschau can expect their taxi fare to include the base fare, the cost per kilometer based on the time of day or night, and any waiting time charges if the car is not moving. The tariff structure is designed to be simple, so you can easily estimate your journey cost.
