1. The Wels Taxi Rate Explained Simply

Officially Set

The Wels taxi rate was officially set on 13 juin 2022. Taxi tariffs in Austria are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Wels was last set in juin 2022 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Wels taxi rate:

The taxi tariff of Wels sets out how taxi fares are calculated for rides within the city. The fare you pay depends on the time of your journey. During the daytime, from Monday to Saturday between 6:00 and 21:00, there is a base fare of €6.40. At night, from 21:00 to 6:00, and throughout the whole day on Sunday, the base fare is €7.20. The base fare covers the first 1.00 km of your ride.

After the first kilometer, the price per kilometer is €1.72 for the next 4 kilometers. For any additional distance beyond these 4 kilometers, the price per kilometer is €1.49. This means the longer your journey, the lower the rate per kilometer after the first few kilometers.

If your taxi ride includes waiting time, the tariff of Wels also specifies a charge. For daytime rides, the waiting time is charged at €30.00 per hour. For rides at night and on Sundays, waiting time is charged at €33.00 per hour. Waiting time includes times when the taxi is stopped or moving very slowly, such as in traffic jams or at traffic lights.

You pay only for the actual distance traveled and any necessary waiting time. All charges are calculated according to this tariff, ensuring a clear and transparent fare structure for passengers using taxis in Wels.
